This handmade cow plushie stands about 28 cm tall and is semi-posable, meaning that it is able to alter between basic standing and sitting positions. It is made in a lifelike style, using super soft rabbit style fur, and features many intricate details, such as horns, realistic cloven hooves and a detailed muzzle with proper mouth and nostrils. There's even a cute little pink tongue, that can be tucked away inside the mouth. All in all this plushie is made from a whopping 106 handsewn pieces!
This beautifully marked calf was inspired by the Tirol Grey, a hardy breed of alpine cattle native to the Tirol region in southern Austria and South Tirol in nothern Italy. Locally it is known as Tiroler Grauvieh and Grigio Alpina respectively. Tirol Greys are dual purpose cattle, meaning that they are raised for both milk and meat production. The milk these cows produce is rich in protein and fat, which makes it both well tasting and ideal for cheese making.
The Tirol Grey is known for its distinctive grey color, which is often described as a blue-grey or silver-grey shade, but greyish brown individuals are also common. The areas around the eyes and lower parts of the body are typically a lighter shade and the muzzle is almost white. Bulls are often darker with a light grey "saddle" across the back. Tyrol Grey calves are born with a lighter color and gradually develop their adult coloring as they grow older and mature.
Hugo's main body color is dark grey with lighter areas on the head, belly and legs. He sports markings typical for the breed, along with a black tail tip and grey feet.
This plushie will be recreated upon order. It will be made in an environment free of cigarette smoke and perfume, but not entierly pet free as I have cats.
As with all items in my store, this plushie was originally designed by me and will also be reproduced by me. A lot of effort and care goes into making a lifelike plushie like this. Particularly into the many details of the head and feet, which contain many tiny parts that are notoriously hard to assemble, but also into sewing all the markings.
Hugo's body will be made from multiple shades of super soft rabbit style faux fur with a pile length of 10 mm. 25 mm faux fur will be used for the tuft of hair on top of the head. 70 mm luxury mongolian faux fur is to be used for the tail tip. Nose, horns and feet will be made with synthetic suede, a fabric that is made to resemble brushed leather and has a soft feel to it. Short pile minky will be used for the furry parts of the snout and upholstery grade velour for the tongue. The plushie will be fitted with 14 mm plastic safety eyes, which are lined with black imitate leather to improve their shape and to make them more lifelike. The legs will be sealed off from the rest of the body, allowing them to be stuffed firmly enough to carry the weight of the the body, while the rest of the calf is stuffed much more lightly. Plastic beads will be added to add extra weight to the lower legs and tail tip.
