This listing provides a fur changing option. If selected it will significantly alter the overall look and feel of the finished calf. The markings will be the same, but the fur will be slightly longer and more rugged looking.

Item Description:

Say hello to Cowsy the petit looking and beautifully spotted baby calf! This handmade cow plushie stands about 28 cm tall and is semi-posable, meaning that it is able to alter between basic standing and sitting positions. It is made in a lifelike style, using super soft rabbit style fur, and features many intricate details, such as realistic cloven hooves and a detailed muzzle with proper mouth and nostrils. There's even a cute little pink tongue, that can be tucked away inside the mouth. All in all this plushie is made from a whopping 143 handsewn pieces!

Baby Cowsy was modelled after the Holstein cow, an often seen breed of spotted dairy cattle, that is famed for its ability to produce larger amounts of milk, than any other breed in the world. Holstein is the most common dairy breed in the world and is easily recognized by its highly varied and yet distinctive markings, that can be either black and white or red and white.

The origin of this breed can be traced some 2000 years back to the fertile and grassy plains of northern Netherlands. Selective culling and interbreeding between the black stock of the Batavians and pure white or cream stock of the Friesians gave rise to a highly efficient dual purpose breed of spotted cattle. These traditional Holstein cows (now known as Friesians) were able to make the most out of the grass and produce large amounts of both milk and meat. Some of these large animals were brought to North America by Dutch settlers, and gave rise to the modern day Holstein, who is less beefy and specializes in milk production.

Materials:

This lifelike looking plushie will be recreated upon order. As with all items in my store, Baby Cowsy was originally designed by me and will also be reproduced by me. She will be made in an environment free of cigarette smoke and perfume, but not entierly pet free as I have cats.

Baby Cowsy's body will be made from two shades of super soft rabbit style faux fur with a pile length of 10 mm. 70 mm luxury mongolian faux fur is to be used for the tail tip. Nose and feet will be made with synthetic suede, a fabric that is made to resemble brushed leather and has a soft feel to it. Short pile minky will be used for the furry parts of the snout and upholstery grade velour for the tongue. The plushie will be fitted with 14 mm plastic safety eyes, which are lined with black imitate leather to improve their shape and to make them more lifelike. The legs will be sealed off from the rest of the body, allowing them to be stuffed firmly enough to carry the weight of the the body, while the rest of the calf is stuffed much more lightly. Plastic beads will be added to add extra weight to the lower legs and tail tip.

Usage:

This plushie is best used as an ornamental piece for indoors decoration purposes. It is not suitable as a toy and should be kept away from young children and pets at all times. It can be used for play with older children if handled gently. Keep in mind though, that this is an artist doll. It is a work of art and not a toy. The plush can't be washed if it gets dirty and may easily get damaged.
