Item Description:
Say hello to Misty Moo the adorable spotted calf! This handmade cow plushie stands about 30 cm tall and sports irregular black and white markings. It is made in a lifelike style and features many intricate details, such as realistic cloven hooves and a detailed muzzle with proper mouth and nostrils. All in all this plushie is made from a whopping 104 handsewn pieces!
Misty Moo was modelled after the Holstein cow, an often seen breed of spotted dairy cattle, that is famed for its ability to produce larger amounts of milk, than any other breed in the world. Holstein is the most common dairy breed in the world and is easily recognized by its highly varied and yet distinctive spotted markings, that can be either black and white or red and white.
The origin of this breed can be traced some 2000 years back to the fertile and grassy plains of northern Netherlands. Selective culling and interbreeding between the black stock of the Batavians and pure white or cream stock of the Friesians gave rise to a highly efficient dual purpose breed of spotted cattle. These traditional Holstein cows (now known as Friesians) were able to make the most out of the grass and produce large amounts of both milk and meat. Some of these large animals were brought to North America by Dutch settlers, and gave rise to the modern day Holstein, who is less beefy and specializes in milk production.
Materials and production:
This lifelike looking plushie will be recreated upon order. As with all items in my store, Misty Moo was originally designed by me and will also be reproduced by me. She will be made in an environment free of cigarette smoke and perfume, but not entierly pet free as I have cats.
Misty Moo's body will be made from two shades of regular quality faux fur with a pile length of 12 mm. 70 mm luxury mongolian faux fur is to be used for the tail tip. Nose and feet will be made with synthetic suede, a fabric that is made to resemble brushed leather and has a soft feel to it. Short pile minky will be used for the furry parts of the snout and upholstery grade velour for the tongue. The plushie will be fitted with 14 mm plastic safety eyes, which are lined with black imitate leather to improve their shape and to make them more lifelike. The body will be stuffed with siliconized polyester fibers until firm enough for the plushie to stand properly.
Once finished, this plushie stands approximately 30 cm tall and measures about 41 cm from nose to butt.
Usage:
This plushie is best used as an ornamental piece for indoors decoration purposes. It is not suitable as a toy and should be kept away from young children and pets at all times. It can be used for play with older children if handled gently. Keep in mind though, that this is an artist doll. It is a work of art and not a toy. The plushie can't be washed if it gets dirty and may easily get damaged.
